Omega Staffing Process

Omega Support Group currently has 100+ active casual staff members providing exceptional support services across Victoria.

Omega Support Group’s recruitment process involves a series of checks prior to applicants being offered a position to join our quality team. These include:

  • Extensive interview with management.
  • Current National Police check
  • International Police check (International police clearance (mandatory if international applicant or resided outside of Australia within the past 10 years)
  • Working with Children Check (mandatory if working with a minor under 18 years)
  • Qualifications or any training completed
  • Current Victorian drivers licence

The above employment requirements are used when short listing applicants for interviews. Applicants that are not successful are shredded to comply with privacy laws.

During the interview process, the prospective employee will be asked questions relating to employment within the field; all answers are documented for management to refer back too when making their decision. The applicant is asked to forward copies of their most current National Police/crime check, International Police Check and a Working with Children’s Check (WCC). If the prospective employee does not hold a current National Police/crime check, International Police Check (if resided outside of Australia within the past 10 years) or Working with Children’s Check WCC and we feel they meet the criteria for employment we will ask them to apply for one immediately.

Prospective employees are informed of the Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme (DWES) and are given forms to be completed and returned. Once Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme (DWES) forms are returned Omega Support Group forward the potential employee’s details obtained from the returned forms to The Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for a name check against the Disability Worker Exclusion List (DWEL). After receiving clearance from the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) that the person’s name has been cleared Omega Support Group will complete reference checking (x 3 industry based). Once this is finalised and management are happy with all the information obtained the applicant is offered a position to join our team.

Any applicant whose name arises on the Disability Worker Exclusion List (DWEL) will be informed directly by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). If this arises Omega Support Group destroys any information they hold regarding this applicant and a position will not be offered.

Omega Support Group is recognised by Disability Service Providers, carers and parents with providing quality staff to meet individual needs. Our thorough recruitment process enables Omega Support Group to employ quality staff delivering in return quality support.
